REVERIE WORKS · PLAYABLE IN DEVELOPMENT

02 / The craft

Feelings have material properties.

Thoughtsmithing is not metaphor in Sombra. Emotion can be distilled, woven, bottled, fired—and combined into something the world has never held before.

The workshop is a legible machine built around an illegible substance. Every material carries emotional pressure. Every station gives that pressure a different form.

Recipes can be learned, but discovery begins before certainty: observe affinities, risk scarce ingredients, read the machine, and decide when an accident is worth remembering.

Four dreamlike crafting stations process luminous fibers, bottled weather, and fragments of memory.
Four stations / one practice / no harmless ingredients
The recipe tells you what you made. It does not tell you what it will do to a person.

Four instruments

The station changes the meaning.

The same emotional ingredients behave differently depending on how they are processed. A feeling distilled is not the same object as that feeling woven into another. Form is part of the recipe.

Dream Still

Concentrates volatile material into precise distillates: useful, potent, and easy to misuse.

Thought Loom

Weaves multiple pressures together. Complex work for needs that refuse a single answer.

Emotion Bottler

Makes a feeling portable and immediate. The most direct products are not always the simplest.

Memory Kiln

Fires experience into durable form. What survives the heat tends to stay.

Discovery

A system you learn by touching it.

Affinity readings give you clues without solving the craft for you. Known recipes can be pinned for reliability; unknown combinations remain invitations. Strange results enter the journal as evidence rather than punishment.

Production grows from handwork into a workshop of queues, adjacency, animals, processors, and carefully arranged automation. Efficiency matters—but the game keeps asking what, exactly, you are becoming efficient at.

In Sombra, mastery is not the power to remove uncertainty. It is knowing which uncertainty must remain.
