03 / Operational route / Run structure

THE DESCENT

Five to eight stops. One changing train. More worthwhile opportunities than the crew can safely carry home.

Current depth04 / 07

Salvage study / It does not guard the room. It closes around ownership.

A complete run lasts roughly thirty-five to sixty minutes and visits five to eight stops. The crew begins with modest equipment and a functional but vulnerable train, then builds a strange moving fortress from whatever they can steal, salvage, bargain for, or survive.

The reward curve deliberately pulls away from safety. Players should feel that something valuable is nearby before they know what it is—and feel the departure window collapsing before they agree to turn around.

Primary directiveDistance from the train is the first price. Getting back is the second.

Station anatomy

One Stop, Four Depths

The platform is close, visible, and comparatively reliable. The concourse holds offices, medical rooms, ticket halls, faction caches, standard weapons, and locked spaces. Service areas add power rooms, maintenance corridors, prototypes, train components, puzzles, and minibosses.

The Deep Line is optional. Bosses, named relics, alternate paths, forbidden platforms, and major secrets live there because the crew must choose to enter it. A rare station can conceal an entire expedition beneath one ordinary platform.

Visible contacts / Selected studies

No safe silhouette
A long intact human organism folds itself along the yellow platform edge while a scavenger retreats toward the lit train.
Platform rule / The safety strip is only paint until something begins using it.
Three wrong-jointed human organisms gallop across track, wall, and train side as the crew reacts through warm carriage windows.
Transit attack / The train is a home only while it keeps moving.
Four crew members force subway doors shut against a pale radial organism gripping the windows and door seam from outside.
Door event / Four people hold the line while one organism learns every edge.

Temptation language

Information Without Certainty

Faction-colored emergency lights, unusual announcements, radio interference, freight elevators, distant machinery, ritual markings, and maps showing impossible platforms become a learned language of opportunity.

An experienced player can recognize a promising route. They cannot know that the final cache contains a run-defining weapon. Unopened rewards remain sealed until searched, and future route legs remain hidden until the decision is legitimately in front of the crew.

Recall phase

The Return Makes Choices Physical

Warnings escalate through clocks, announcements, radios, changing lights, train sounds, and increasing enemy activity. Damaged clocks and false announcements make learned judgment as important as any weapon.

On the way back, someone may be limping. Someone may be carrying a two-handed power core and unable to fire. Someone may insist on returning for a dropped relic. Enemies can pursue the crew to the platform and attempt to board. Everything taken deeper must be carried through the consequences on the way out.

Line condition

A route can be read. A reward can be suspected. Neither can make one more room safe.
