FILE 05 / 05FIELD LOGS

COUNTY CONTINUITY OFFICE · ACTIVE DEVELOPMENT RECORD

FIELD LOGS

Seven incidents, five physical creature roles, one bodyless contradiction, and a route home that becomes less certain with every complete record.

Field logs preserve the sequence that a clean bestiary entry removes. They show where equipment was lost, which rule was learned first, who reached extraction, and when a separate case appeared close enough to join the combined record without becoming the same kind of threat.

The physical survey board brings seven authenticated files into one frame. Its strings show shared routes, custody, witnesses, and timing—not a solved conspiracy.

A lone field operator moves toward an extraction vehicle while several distinct cryptids roam through a rain-dark Hollowbrook street.

Baseline / Hollowbrook

Hollowbrook is invented for this project: a small administrative center, scattered retail, old farms, river roads, utility alleys, and enough overlapping surveys to make an ordinary navigation error believable.

That ordinary legibility matters. A repeated intersection is frightening because the first intersection was completely unremarkable.

A quiet small-town main street lies under gray weather with parked cars, dark storefronts, and no visible pedestrians.

Route Recursion / River Road

The River Road case is the clearest example of a physical creature producing an effect much larger than its body. The animal remains visible and motionless. The road does the approaching.

An immense long-limbed animal stands motionless beyond a rural intersection while the road bends subtly toward it.

COMBINED INCIDENT SURVEY / HB-98-1014

Combined Hollowbrook Incident Survey

Seven authenticated field records. String indicates shared route, custody, witness, or timing—not a confirmed common origin.

Complete Incident Index

  1. Annex 6 / Departure Record1998-10-14 / 05:42 / County Road 6 / West lot

The departure photograph contains all three operators and the sealed camera later credited with taking the photograph.

  2. Whitlock Property Line1998-10-14 / 07:16 / Whitlock subdivision / North survey line

Tracks changed direction at the surveyed ownership line rather than the physical fence. The missing operator used an unlogged driveway crossing.

  3. Mercer Pharmacy1998-10-14 / 08:03 / Main Street / Mercer block

When front-room illumination was equalized, the effective threshold moved to a service opening not shown on the building plan.

  4. Municipal Service Alley1998-10-14 / 09:28 / Rear of Mercer block / Utility access

Three scavengers unloaded, checked, and reseated empty magazines around packs left by an earlier team. None attempted to fire.

  5. Grady Farm1998-10-14 / 11:52 / East agricultural district / Utility easement

Carrier nests explain the apex animal's territorial resilience but not synchronized circulation across separated structures.

  6. River Road1998-10-14 / 15:06 / River Road / Repeated north intersection

The team passed the same intersection three times. Each pass ended nearer to the motionless animal despite a decreasing odometer reading.

  7. Malformed Alley / Evidence 0011998-10-15 / RECEIVED 10-16 / Mercer block / Unnumbered service opening

A domestic room occupies no valid building volume. The central case remains geographically proximate to beast contacts but has no confirmed body.

Recovered Materials

Recovered Materials closes the field archive: props, tissue, recordings, documents, photographs, damaged equipment, route markers, and objects whose chain of custody is more reliable than their apparent age.

Every object retains its case number and transfer history. A claw sheath may support a bestiary rule. A camera may undermine the chronology of the entire excursion. Both occupy the same shelf until a better procedure exists.

Separate files make the work manageable. The strings begin where manageable stops being the same thing as true.
