LAST SHIFT · IN DEVELOPMENT · OCTOBER 1988
04 / The investigation begins
CONTRADICTIONS
Evidence points toward a missing child. The station, the records, and your own memory do not agree on what that means.
A detail connected to a missing child appears where routine says it should not be. Another discovery seems to confirm it. A third makes both harder to trust.
You investigate because the grief is real, even when the evidence around it refuses to settle into one reliable history.

The evidence keeps answering questions you did not ask.

Familiar Tasks, Incompatible Results
The investigation grows from the same interaction grammar as the opening shift. The player checks records, revisits rooms, compares objects, and notices when ordinary systems produce impossible outcomes.
Nothing arrives with an authoritative label. The player decides what deserves belief while the available categories keep failing.

Human Meaning at the Edge of Something Larger
Cult remnants suggest that other people encountered fragments of the same impossibility and built rituals around their interpretation.
Their certainty is evidence of obsession, not proof that they understood what answered them.
Horror study / Evidence without solution
The night never resolves cleanly.
